Last week I spent a long weekend in Norfolk. The main reason was to see the Houghton revisited exhibition.
Houghton Hall was built for Britain's first prime minister Sir Robert Walpole. In 1779 the collection was sold to Catherine the Great. This year the collection was back at Houghton for the first time and last weekend was the last chance.
The weather was lousy so we wandered down to Castle Acre and the Church Gate Tea Rooms...... Coffee and Walnut cake and a slice of Norfolk Scone.
And then had a look around St James the Great Castle Acre
The next day we returned to Castle Acre to look around the Cluniac Priory.
We went to Oxburgh Hall for lunch....
The final stop was St Peter's church Merton
