Dad

My great regret is that I got into photography when Mum was unwell so had very few chances to take a pic of  her.

So I like to take pics of Dad..... I rather like this.....

Sherborne Town, Abbey and Castle

The town of Sherborne is my sort of place. A lovely olde world town with lots of independent shops, a lovely Abbey church and out of town there is Walter Raleigh's old home... Sherborne Castle.

Montacute

For some reason I didn't take many pics in B&W at Montacute.......

The house contains a fine collection of Royal Portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery, the house itself is Tudor and well worth a visit.

Small Children and My Father

Parents dread rain on holidays as it is harder to keep children amused. I have an 80 year old dad who hates rain!

The slumped shoulders say it all....

Still in Norfolk

Well we stil in Norfolk this time we're visiting Fakenham and Houghton Hall

Fakenham Church

There is a nice market at Fakenham and when I'm there in May I'll take some pics.

Houghton Hall was the home of Robert Walpole our first Prime Minister...... it's grand!

impresive stables eh

The church in the grounds. The village was moved to make way for the House.

The ghost in the woods.... Houghton's white deer.

The walled garden is fabulous....

Dad looks wistful. He had been telling me about the first few days of the blitz when he lived in the East End....

After the cold interlude let us head back to our tour of historic Norfolk. Today we'll visit Oxburgh Hall.

Oxburgh is a moated medieval manor house now in the care of the National Trust but I believe the family are still resident.

Dad not quite keeping out of shot :D

The Bedingfield family are Roman Catholics hence there is a private chapel.

The adjacent parish church looks like it is ruined. In 1948 the tower and spire collapsed. The chancel is still used as the parish church and the Bedingfield chapel as a wonderful collection of Terracotta tombs.
