A Tale of Two churches

Two of Essex's best churches are only 5 miles a part but in size and scale are miles a part.

The Churches Conservation Trust church of St Mary's Chickney is small and is about isolation and atmosphere....

 

St John's Thaxted is all about Grandeur

Both are worth a visit!

Lavenham

Today the weather was glorious and I went for a stroll around Lavenham.

During WWII Lavenham was not the picture postcard village it is today, lots of the buildings were run down and so it is lovely to visit now and see them looking so well cared for. Today some may consider Lavenham too "commercialised". Yes there are lots of tea rooms, antiques shops, touristy shops, fashionable pubs/hotels alongside the lovely well maintained old buildings (including the Guildhall, Little Hall, Church etc) but it also has the shops and facilities you need for day to day life and as well it does seem to have a social life you don't get in bigger towns.

I am late!

Unfortunately my Dad spent most of January and the first few days of February in Hospital so I hope anyone still out there will appreciate  that photography has not really been on my mind.
