Audley End

Today was cold as was yesterday but whereas yesterday was dull, grey and wet today was dry and sunny! I headed to Audley End which is somewhere I often go to on a Sunday afternoon!

Although Audley is a magnificent house what you see today is only about a third of what it once was! It was effectively a palace

It has a very fine walled garden, which has lots of old varieties of fruit trees. Work is being done in part of it and it is being replanted, it will be interesting to see how this works out! 

The Elysian Garden....

This is my fave tree....... whenever there is a big storm I like to be reassured it is still there.... it has its own support!

Ham House

I haven't been to Ham House in years. It has a stunning location in West London beside the River Thames....

Upon arrival it was misty.

The sun came out ! Yeah in B&W! But it meant some warmth!

Wimpole Hall

There was a sharp frost Saturday but that's fine I'd rather cold and bright blue skies than grey and damp.

Wimpole is the largest house in Cambridgeshire and the park is very important for wildlife.

This tree is in the garden and I find it fascinating.... it has almost become two trees!

London Again

A dull grey damp and cold day in London. Yep I was up for another concert !!! And very good it was Iestyn Davies (countertenor), Elizabeth Kenny (Lute/Theorbo).

This is the The Kindertransport Monument. It is the Arrival by Frank Reisler.

 The Kindertransport (German for "children's transport") was an organised rescue effort that took place during the nine months prior to the outbreak of the Second World War. The United Kingdom took in nearly 10,000 predominantly Jewish children from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and the Free City of Danzig. The children were placed in British foster homes, hostels, schools and farms. Often they were the only members of their families who survived the Holocaust.
 

You may realise I like St Paul's...
