To the Glory of God

And so to our first full day in Rome.

But first breakfast! The breakfast room had fabulous views, enhanced by the bright blue sky (or grey in these pics ;) )

We headed out into Rome with our destination being the Vatican....

We reached it by crossing the Ponte San Angelo

And on to the Vatican

As you would expect St Peter's was packed but we had an Omnia card and jumped the queues

The Vatican Museums and Sistine chapel are amazing but the volume of people really do make it hard to appreciate.

Back into town

.... pausing for the obligatory ice cream.....

The Piazza Navona, a happening place.....

The Pantheon was once a Roman Temple

I'm in the Eternal City!!!

Rome I'm in Rome! The Eternal City. There maybe more evocative cities but certainly not in Europe.

The flight was great, views of the Alps and when you come into Rome you get superb views of St Peters and the Colosseum.

My friend Trish does not like flying so she was pleased to see this....

The alps

The first view of Rome

We managed to get into our Hotel early so dropped bags and then out......

We were right next to the Colosseum

Who says the Roman Empire is dead.
