Buckland Abbey

I was at Buckland Abbey the other day. Once the home to Sir Francis Drake and now in the care of the National Trust and home to a Rembrandt!

These were taken on the outskirts of Yelverton.

It's a nice "smaller" property.

Clapper bridge

A clapper bridge is a type of bridge often found on the moors of Devon but can be found in other upland parts of the UK.

This one is from Postbridge on Dartmoor. it was first recorded about 1380.

Fort Grey and Rocquaine Bay

The west coast of Guernsey is less built up and when the sun shines it has rugged beauty. When the wind blows boy does it blow! I worked my way up the west coast. These are from Rocquaine Bay

Fort Grey is home to an interesting  museum about shipwrecks

St Peter Port

I spent a week in Guernsey in May. For those of you wanting more info checkout this from the "normal" blog

These were taken in the Island's capital St Peter Port it has a cornish air with a gallic twist.

The town of Fiesole overlooks Florence and is a shoot bus ride from the Piazza San Marco. It has a small Duomo, a nice Monastery and a museum of Roman and Etruscan finds.

The walk to the monastery is a bit hilly
